Friends, happy summer! Enjoy this Best Peach Cobbler recipe made from scratch with fresh peaches. Bake and serve warm with ice cream, or fresh whipped cream! By the way, this is not your typical “peach cobbler dump cake” as it doesn’t use a cake mix. It’s made from scratch!

Best Peach Cobbler Recipe

We love an easy cobbler recipe, and speaking of peachesa nd summer, I had some beautiful white peaches sitting on my counter this week, so we took this fresh peach cobbler to some friends’ house for dinner.

Why we love this recipe

• It makes the best crust on top (watch the video)
• You can use white or yellow peaches (we prefer white peaches)
• It’s a party favorite, delicious served with ice cream or whipped cream.

This cobbler is a great summer recipe, but you can also make into the fall season. There’s something about end of August and September that just says, “fall.” You know, a change of smell, feel, activities, and beautiful colors.

I love the cinnamon, a hint of almond, and flavors of sweet, juicy, end-of-summer peaches. Right now you can also try this Olive Oil Peach French Pound Cake made with fresh or canned peaches or a Perfect Peach Buttermilk Cake. This is a great breakfast cake!

Gather these ingredients:

• Peaches: make sure they are ripe, and you can use white or yellow peaches
• Lemon
• Butter
• Milk
• Sugar
• Salt, cinnamon, baking powder
• Flour, cornstarch
• Vanilla and almond extract: you can opt out of almond extract but we love the flavor
• Boiling water: you cannot skip the boiling water, this is essential to the recipe

How to make peach cobbler

Prepare fresh peaches in a 9×13 pan. We love “white” peaches.

Squeeze a whole lemon over the top. Yes, a “whole” lemon. It may seem like a lot, but it really makes the flavor “pop.”

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray. On the bottom, lay the fresh sliced peaches, and squeeze the juice of 1 lemon over the peaches.
3. In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, milk, sugar, salt, cinnamon, baking powder, flour, vanilla, and almond extract. Pour over the peaches.
4. In the same bowl, add the remaining sugar and cornstarch. Mix together and sprinkle on top of the cobbler mixture.
5. Over the entire cobbler, pour boiling water.
6. Bake for 1 hour. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Tips and substitutions:

• Use white peaches (we buy at Costco, our favorite) or yellow peaches.
• You can substitute the peaches for frozen, but the cobbler might be a little more runny.
• Don’t skimp on the boiling water.
• Try serving lemon gelato. It’s surprisingly good.
• One reader substituted the peaches for zucchini. We have not tried this, but we think it would be like a sweet zucchini cake! We might give it a try.
• Optional to not add the almond extract, although we LOVE the flavor.
• Bake a little longer if you want a more brown crust on top.
• Serve cold or warm. Easy to reheat individual servings, too.

How to serve peaches cobbler

When you serve a cobbler, or even bring it to a potluck or party, you can reheat it two ways:

1. Place in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
2. Heat each individual serving in the microwave.

We love either homemade vanilla ice cream, vanilla ice cream or gelato! For this cobbler, we served a local Bonta Salted Vanilla Gelato–oh so good!
