First, only the most premium grade of high carbon steel is used. This insures against any blemishes in the metal which can weaken the hook. Secondly, Gamakatsu has the most advanced tempering system in the world.
A few features of the EWGs that make them a favorite among bass anglers throughout the country are the line tie (eye) and hook point are in line with each other, which does a great job of making baits weedless even when the hook point isn't buried in the soft plastic.
The advantage of an offset hook is that when a fish grabs the bait—or when you swing to set that hook—the slightly co*cked point will connect with the inside of the fish's mouth quicker, penetrate faster, and stay planted better than an inline hook.
Two types of hooks, barbless and circle hooks, are known to reduce injury and mortality of released fishes. Barbless hooks reduce tissue damage and handling stress because they can be removed quickly and easily.
