All materials are included, so you can simply come and enjoy the creative process.Annabel Hill, a talented designer and printmaker, draws inspiration from the natural environment surrounding her studio in Appledore, North Devon. Her Textile Design degree has equipped her with the skills to create patterns derived from images and drawings of plant life. She has honed her focus on botanical imagery from hedgerows and rock pools in North Devon, using her collection of presses to create a diverse range of prints. These prints are then transformed into patterns using digital software and transferred onto natural fabrics. The Pickwell Foundation, in collaboration with Empathy Action, is proud to present this thought-provoking performance in Ilfracombe at St Peter's Church, Highfield Road.We are delighted to offer free entry to schools and the public, making this immersive experience accessible to all. We especially encourage secondary schools in North Devon to attend, as we believe it is essential for young people to learn about and empathize with the challenges faced by refugees. To further enhance the educational value, we will provide a post-experience package to facilitate classroom discussions and learning opportunities.The Desperate Journeys - School Sessions will take place from Sunday 17th to Friday 22nd March. Each session will last approximately 90 minutes and can accommodate groups of up to 30 individuals. Amy will expertly guide participants through the process of creating an expressive landscape oil painting, using traditional techniques and methods. By attending this workshop, you will learn valuable skills such as composition ideas, working with sketches and grounds, creating depth through tone, and using both muted and saturated colors. Additionally, Amy will teach the technique of impasto mark making. To fully participate in the workshop, please bring the following materials: packed lunch, 2 canvases or canvas boards (approximately 16 x 12 inches), a tear-off palette, Liquin Low Odour White Spirit, two jam jars with lids, an old rag for paint wiping, kitchen roll, a palette knife or old credit card, 2 large brushes, 1 fan brush, and a selection of hogs hair brushes for oil painting. The required oil paint colors are Alkyd Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Turquoise, Lemon Yellow, Rose Madder or similar bright pink, and Buff Titanium. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their creativity under the guidance of Amy Jobes, a professional landscape artist based in North Devon.
