Skinny Seven Layer Dip Recipe - A Cedar Spoon (2024)

ThisSkinny Seven Layer Dip recipe is a healthier take on the traditional version that is every bit as delicious as the origional!

Do you ever go to a party and find yourself addicted to one appetizer, dip, spread? Something you just can’t seem to pull yourself away from?

Well, if you catch me on the right day, seven layer dip is my weakness!

Skinny Seven Layer Dip

Anytime I go to a party and there is seven layer dip involved I find myself planted in one place for a little too long trying to get a fewbites of this stuff. It is always gone within minutes. How can you blame anyone?

I wanted to bring this to a family get together last weekend. I went on the hunt for a little healthier version and found a delicious recipe on Skinny Taste. This recipe uses reduced fat sour cream and cream cheese mixed with taco seasoning and a jar of salsa, along with a layer of lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Some people add black olives to the top but I do not likekind of hate them so I kept them out of this Skinny Seven Layer Dip recipe.

The recipe calls for taco seasoning which gets mixed in with the cream cheese, sour cream and salsa. If you want to make your own taco seasoning (cuts the sodium and possible other additives they might put in the packaged stuff) then check out Tony’s recipe on her website Quick Dish.

What are you waiting for? This Skinny Seven Layer Dip is easy to make & even easier to eat!

Sam has not been back to Lebanon since 2000. He came to the states in 2000. We met in 2005. We hope to visit next year. He grew up between Chekka and Doha, Qatar. He is Maronite, so the family fled during the civil war. He spent most of his childhood in Lebanon though. Catholic school...etc.

My mother-in-law came to visit about 2 years ago. I loved having her here. She does not speak english so communication was a challange, but she cooked up a storm. By the time she left I could not get into my freezer. She had made so many kibbie....meat pies....spinch pies...falafel...etc. She is amazing and I miss her. She is the sweetest woman. You don't need to speak the same language to know that someone has a heart of gold....you just kinda know.

I want to explore Beirut too while we are there. There is a facebook page that offers Culinary Tours of Lebanon called "Taste Lebanon" I think it is run by Bethany Kehdy. She is a food blogger. Her blog is www.dirtykitchensecrets.com. Not sure if you are familiar with her, but if not check it out. I will be on the lookout for the package. When my dad mails stuff from Downers Grove it takes a while to get here. I will let you know when it arrives. Talked to my dad today, sounds like you all are in for a big snow storm! Hope teh snow sticks for Christmas! Happy Holidays to you too!

Wow that is great! I am so glad she got to visit and you had such a nice time with her. I am sure she cooked you some amazing food--you are making me hungry! I have seen Bethany's site and follow her recipes. I have also seen the "Taste of Lebanon" that you mention. It looks like an amazing experience. You will have to fill me in once you go! Happy Holidays!

Love Seven Layer Dip! If we make it to my familys house on Christmas Eve I will be taking this. I have been overloaded on sweets and heavy food to last me all year and then some. This sounds perfect! By the way.....I hate olives too. High Five! I don't really know why really. My husband thinks I am totally nuts. His family had them growing in their back yard in Chekka, Lebanon. They would give them to their neighbor who owned a press to make olive oil for them and then the neighbor would use them to make olive oil soap. So Bassam LOVES olives. I love olive oil flavored with herbs and cook with it, but the olives themselves just never were a hit with me. You are in good company! :)

I hear ya--I have had and baked way too many sweets this season! You will like this dip--it's tasty! I bet you its gone in no time.

Yes-I agree on olives! I actually like green and purple olives, just not black! Weird, I know! I didn't realize you husband grew up in Lebanon! How wonderful- has he been back? My dream is to someday make a trip to Lebanon..my sister has been and I am so jealous. We have on relative there that lives in Beirut so we would stay with them. I will keep dreaming and until then just cook the food and look @ pictures! Happy Holidays & look for your treats--I sent them a few days ago! Happy Holidays.
