We normally spend time talking about the work and the business in industry press. But ultimately this is a people business, so it was nice to be asked to contribute to Mumbrella's Dynamic Duos series and talk about my partner in crime Anna Borien, how we work together and where we are heading.Big things to come from GALORE.

So I decided to get in the ocean every day in March and try to swim in all 14 ocean pools on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The aim being to build some better habits, and to remind myself to take advantage of the beautiful place that I live.I managed to do it, and it was really rather easy (aside from a couple of days of filthy weather where a little bit more self talk was required..). A good reminder that if you channel your efforts into things that actually benefit you, it's easy to make little positive changes. No other earth-shattering leadership insights from this exercise, other than 'Get in the brine'! It's good for you...

I wouldn't want to be building a creative business today without having a passionate, smart, empathetic, dynamic female leader alongside me as a partner in the business. With Anna Borien at Galore's helm I know she will push the business, and me, to do better for all the women who come into GALORE's orbit. Some great points made here by Anna and a host of other excellent industry leaders.#IWD#galorecreative#diversityofthought

Building good habits is something I’ve been finding increasingly hard. I’ve generally blamed it on busyness, life, kids or any other excuse at hand, but it’s something that needs to be fixed. So, for the month of March I’ve decided I’m going to immerse myself in the ocean every day for a month. Either a proper swim or just a quick body bash. Just get in the drink every day. For years I’ve loved swimming and the ocean. I used to do it for competitive fitness, but there’s something extra about being in the ocean that I think gives us benefits way beyond physical fitness, and this is what I want to get back in touch with. I’m lucky that I live near the ocean on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, so I’ve decided that as well as a swim every day, I need to include a swim at every one of the 14 ocean pools along this glorious stretch of coastline. For day 1 today I went to Dee Why. It was lovely!I’ll report back at the end of the month…

A good mix of views here from some peers and our very own Anna Borien on the appetite for creativity in the year ahead. The need to make more with less isn't going away any time soon. At GALORE are tackling it by taking a fundamental look at how we can be a more efficient partner to business, and changing our business model accordingly. I'm confident that more clients will see value in partners who are willing to move away from the way agencies have been operating for decades and to build something new that's fit for purpose today.

Was great to chat with AdNews Australia about the secrets of client/agency relationships. At GALORE we firmly believe that some things change but others remain the same... a relationship based on respect, transparency, shared goals and a willingness to have a crack has always been an essential part of a great relationship.BUT, we've chosen to unshackle ourselves from the traditional agency business model because we believe it can help us offer clients more - more flexibility in how we tackle business problems, more diverse thinking applied to those problems, and more budget focused on what matters to clients.Nice one to all fellow industry leaders pushing for better in this space.Darren Woolley Ruby Derrick Jules Hall Katie Barclay Tom Phillips Lindsay Rogers Stephen O'Farrell#galorecreative #diversityofthought
